Sounds like your concepts are not strong. Excelling in why is it important to simplify radical expressions before adding or subtracting? requires that your concepts be concrete. I know students who actually start teaching juniors in their first year. Why don’t you try Algebrator? I am quite sure, this program will aid you.

I remember having often faced difficulties with adding matrices, difference of cubes and radical expressions. A really great piece of math program is Algebrator software. By simply typing in a problem from workbook a step by step solution would appear by a click on Solve. I have used it through many algebra classes – Algebra 2, Pre Algebra and Remedial Algebra. I greatly recommend the program.
